hot in the city 2nite
The pigeons of Möllan, huddled in conclave.

Hello worldbuilders! It's 28°C in Malmö this afternoon, and it's reliably been around that temperature in the afternoon for close to a week now.

I quite like hot weather, really, but a lot of other folk are less keen—and I dare say I'd be rather less sanguine if it weren't for the low levels of direct sunlight my apartment receives. (A boon in summer, but a bummer in winter, to say the least.)

The weather's meant to break tomorrow, and autumnal temperatures will be close on the heels of the predicted downpour, so I've been out trying to make the most of what will probably be the last week of wearing shorts this year.

(Yes, that's my excuse for this weekly update being late, and I'm sticking to it.)

interview: Georgina Voss (part 1)

Just in case you missed it, the first part of my fairly epic interview with George Voss went out on Wednesday:

world-fleshing: an interview with Georgina Voss (part 1)
The first part of an interview with artist, author and educator Georgina Voss, in which worldbuilding is (sort of) distinguished from world-fleshing, and tips on artistic practice are gleaned from thought leader Hannibal Lecter.

There's more to come, of course—from George, and from various other interviewees. Will it be coming next week? I'm not sure! Scheduling is a bit in flux right now...

weeknotes

... for reasons which might be apparent if you check out this week's weeknotes.

week 36 / 2024
Gingerly g**gling “relieve hip flexors sedentary work”, blinking at the tiny-font AI garbage you get in response—yes, it’s time once again for WEEKNOTES! This week, the undocumentation of some working hours is documented, and Andrew Dana Hudson sends solarpunk thoughts from a road-trip.

(Spoilers: the book edits have continued to eat away at my time, and while I've recovered from the previous week's plague, I'm still not quite running at 100% again yet.)

BUT: the editing is nearly done, and I've done all I can for the PROJECT HOTPLATE bid, so next week should be a bit more various in its pastimes... which if nothing else might make these updates a mite more riveting, eh?

On which note, my slot in the communal laundry room is about to start... so thanks for reading, and keep in touch.
